Kudiyozhikal is the first full length play produced by Nireeksha in May 2005 commissioned by Vyloppilly Samskriti Bhavan. The play was an adaptation of the poem of the same name by Vyloppilly Sreedhara Menon. The poem centers on the conflicts in the poet’s heart as a landlord picking up quarrels with his drunken vassal and his empathy for the emerging ideology of class struggle. Kudiyozhikal by Nireeksha play brings in a new central character from the suggestions within the poem. She is the wife of the vassal and the landlord’s former lover. The play also adds an epilogue-the Kudikidappukar (Tenents) of the contemporary times.
